Clifford Brown​

Drummer extraordinaire Clifford Brown is one of the most versatile musicians in the industry. Although he was born and raised in Norfolk, Virginia he considers the Washington, DC metropolitan area his home.  Clifford began playing drums at a young age and was a member of his school band from 6th to 12th grade.  His professional career began at the tender age of 16 when he started playing in nightclubs around Norfolk and Virginia Beach.  After graduating from high school he joined the United States Air Force and continued playing in the local enlisted and officer clubs on Laughlin, AFB in Del Rio, Texas.  After a worldwide competition in 1984, Clifford was selected to tour with Tops in Blue the US Air Force’s elite unit of musical performers.  He traveled and performed with them in Germany, England, Belgium, Italy, Turkey, Amsterdam, and Spain.  He also shared the stage with Archie Bell, the Drifters, the Tams, Richard Groove Holmes, and other artists during his career at Charleston AFB in the 1980’s.  While stationed in Okinawa, Japan, Clifford formed the group Spellbound which was comprised of military and civilian musicians.  They performed at local jazz clubs, music festivals and private parties. Spellbound also played with Japanese artists at various venues throughout Japan.  After returning to the United States in 1992, he began working with local artists in the Washington, DC area.  Then in 1997 Clifford formed the Light Images jazz band which plays contemporary, traditional, and gospel music.  He exclusively plays Pearl Master Custom Drums and Sabian Cymbals.  Clifford is currently working on his first CD project composed of original music, which is slated to be released in 2013.

The jazz band Light Images was formed in 1997 by drummer Clifford Brown. They have performed in many arenas throughout the Washington, DC area including Blues Alleys, Andrews AFB and music festivals. Light Images has also opened for Ramsey Lewis and Dianne Reeves at the Carter Barron Amphitheatre.  The group worked with keyboardist Marcus Johnson on several occasions and recorded with local artists.  In addition, Light Images has also worked with the Blink Pink organization in support of activities that brought awareness to cancer prevention and treatment.  Some members of the band have included guitarist Alvin White (Najee, George Duke), bassist David Dyson (Pieces of a Dream, Lalah Hathaway, Walter Beasley), saxophonist Eddie Baccus Jr. (Pieces of a Dream, Kirk Whalum, Stevie Wonder), and vocalist Tracy Hamlin (Pieces of a Dream, Gloria Gaynor).  Clifford who serves as the band’s manager/drummer is also an accomplished musician who has traveled and performed worldwide during his music career.
